Eleanor Mae Whitfield
1941 – 2026
Eleanor taught third grade at Zilker Elementary from 1965 until she retired in 1999. She was known for reading aloud with a different voice for every character, for her Saturday tamale mornings, and for a garden that neighbors visited just to stand in. She is remembered by three generations of Austin children who learned to read in her classroom.
